Autopsy Reveals Homicide in Young Woman's Death

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office has determined that a woman found dead in her apartment Thursday was a victim of homicide.

Regina Nunez, 23, was discovered dead in her Bayshore Lakes Apartment, 4203 24th St W., Thursday afternoon. Nunez's mother found the body after she went by to check on her daughter when she did not answer the phone.

The sheriff's department said at the time that they were investigating the death but that there were no signs of trauma to the body. An autopsy revealed that the death was a homicide, according to a Manatee County Sheriff's report. The Sheriff's Office is not releasing a cause of death.

Nunez lived with her boyfriend who is a person of interest in the case, according to the sheriff's report.  The sheriff's office is asking anyone with information in regards to the case to call the Sheriff’s Office at 941-747-3011, ext. 2159 or Crime Stoppers at 866-634-TIPS.
