Bradenton Boy Shot, Killed

BRADENTON, FL — A Bradenton boy shot by his sibling Thursday afternoon has died from his injuries.

According to the Bradenton Police Department, officers were called to a home in the 300 block of 12th Avenue West shortly after 1 p.m. June 22. When they arrived, they found a boy suffering from a gunshot wound.

Police officers began lifesaving efforts, an email from the agency said. The boy was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital, but died shortly after 2 p.m., police said.

The shooting remains under investigation, but police say it appears to be accidental. The victim and shooter are siblings, the agency noted, and both are juveniles.

Further information, including the names and ages of those involved, is not yet available. A request for further information was not immediately responded to.

Police say the shooting serves as a reminder for “owners of firearms to keep them secure and out of the reach of children.”
