Bradenton Man, 81, Killed In Crash

An 81-year-old Bradenton man was killed in a Tuesday night collision on State Road 64 and Rye Road.

BRADENTON, FL — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal Tuesday night crash that left an 81-year-old Bradenton man dead and two others injured.

According to the patrol, Victor Schneider was heading southbound on Rye Road around 7:47 p.m. June 20 in a Kia Optima. As Schneider approached State Road 64, a Jeep Latitude driven by Ashley Collier, 30, of Bradenton was heading west toward the Rye Road intersection.

Troopers say a third vehicle, a Subaru Impreza driven by Linda Johannsen, 61, of Parrish was stopped in traffic facing east in the left turn lane of State Road 64, just west of Rye Road.

Schneider stopped at the Rye Road sign and then entered the intersection of State Road 64, a highway patrol report said. His Kia crossed the westbound lanes as Collier’s Jeep was approaching. The Jeep’s right front hit the left front side of Schneider’s car. The Kia was sent into a clockwise spin, the report said.

After the initial impact, Collier’s Jeep kept moving and struck the front of Johannsen’s car, the report noted.

Schneider was taken to Tampa General Hospital after the crash, but died, the report said. Collier and Johannsen both suffered minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation with charges pending its outcome. No further information is being released at this time.
