Bradenton Man Arrested on Child Pornography Charges

Manatee County detectives arrested a registered sex offender today on 41 charges of possession of child pornography after discovering dozens of images on his laptop.

Sheriff’s detectives arrested John William Zimmerman, 57, today and charged him with possession of child pornography. Zimmerman, who lives in a trailer park off of 51st Ave. East, was arrested in 2009 on charges of possession of child pornography and in 2010 was sentenced to one year in prison, according to a Manatee County Sheriff's report.

Manatee County detectives received information in May that an inappropriate image was downloaded from an online social network account. Investigators tracked the account to Zimmerman, according to the sheriff's report. 

Detectives executed a search warrant at his residence today and several items were seized including a laptop computer. Detectives discovered dozens of images of child pornography on the laptop which will result in 41 additional charges against Zimmerman.
