Bradenton Police Arrest Two After a Shooting Sunday Afternoon.

The two men were involved in an argument that turned violent Sunday afternoon.

Bradenton Police have arrested a 50-year-old man and a 22-year-old-man on charges of attempted murder after a Sunday afternoon confrontation ended in gunfire that left one man wounded.

The shooting took place in the 400 block of 10th Avenue East shortly after 2 p.m. Sunday when Miguel Gutierrez and a 31-year-old man were arguing, according to a Bradenton Police report. During the confrontation someone in the area handed Gutierez a small caliber revolver.

According to the report, the victim saw the gun and pushed Gutierrez to the ground. That's when Gutierrez shot the gun, hitting the victim in the leg. The single bullet traveled through both of the victim’s legs.

The victim, who was shot in the calf area, jumped in a vehicle as Mario Mendoza fired multiple shots from a 9 millimeter hand gun, according to the report. Bullets hit the occupied vehicle, but there were no injuries to the victim or anyone else in the vehicle.

The victim was treated for his non-life threatening gunshot wound. Gutierrez confessed to possession of a firearm and shooting at the victim, according to Bradenton police. Mendoza was arrested Monday afternoon on charges of attempted murder.

Bradenton Police Department Detectives arrested Gutierrez on felony charges of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. According to the police report, Gutierrez was convicted of manslaughter in 1991.
