Bradenton Police Warn Women to Lock Vehicles While Gassing Up

Police say that numerous reports of someone entering vehicles and stealing purses prompted the warning.

Bradenton police sent out a message today warning women to lock their vehicles while pumping gas after a series of reports throughout the Tampa region about thefts from vehicles..

Some women in areas across Tampa Bay have reported that their purses were stolen while they were occupied at the gas pump, according to the Bradenton police report. While the women were pumping gas, someone opened the unlocked door on the opposite side of the pump, reached in and stole their purses.

Bradenton police warned that when you pump gas, you should lock your car and take the key.

"It only take a second for someone to enter and take your car or whatever is inside it," the report states.
