Bradenton's 5 Things to Know Today: April 17
The City Council is set to meet in a work session on Wednesday, the Water Management district is offering conservation classes and there will be a family fun day in Midtown Manatee.

1. The Manatee County Board of Commissioners will meet in a work session today at 9 a.m. On the agenda are an update on an 800 MHz Radio System for the sheriff's office and the El Conquistador Project.
2. The Southwest Florida Water Management District and Manatee County are offering a water school to give residents a chance to learn about local water resource issues and how to make a difference. The school motivates communities to get involved in protecting their water resources through conservation, protection and preservation. The two-day event starts April 26 and is aimed at current and future policy makers and interested Manatee County residents. Registration is $30 and includes two lunches, refreshments and educational materials. Participants will tour several locations around Manatee County to learn various perspectives regarding water resource management, including the individual homeowner, community and agricultural. 3. Manatee County is offering a free Family Fun Day on Saturday in Midtown Manatee on Saturday frm 11 a .m. to 3 p.m. The celebration will take place at Peace Community Park, 1611 30th Ave. W. The free event includes jump houses, carnival games, and lots of great activities for children and their families. Food and beverages will be for sale by local vendors and business owners. 4. 12th Avenue West from 7th to 8th Street West is expected to be closed today from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for the replacement of a manhole ring and cover.
5. The City Council is scheduled to meet in a work session at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
