Bradenton's 5 Things to Know Today: April 25

Patch Adopt-a-thon at Manatee County Animal Services offers discounts, training tips and more, Central High will host a career fair today and don't forget to tell us what makes your mom special.

1. Come out  Thursday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to adopt a dog or cat. Patch is bringing an RV to the downtown adoption center to host an adopt-a-thon. Cats and kittens from will be available for $15. All dogs will be available for $25. Adopt a pet and get Patch prizes. Bring in pet food or non-perishable items and be entered to wn a $25 gift car from PetSmart.

2. will host a “Career Fair” today from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. The Career Fair will be held in Leatherman Auditorium at Manatee Technical Institute’s West Campus, 5603 34th St. W. Organizations expected to be represented at the Central High Career Fair include the U.S. Army, Home Depot, Publix Super Markets, State College of Florida, Manatee Technical Institute, Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union, Lowe’s, Manatee County Government and Keiser University. The purpose of the Career Fair is to expose Central High students to a wide range of careers and post-secondary school options. Representatives at the Career Fair will provide important and useful information about their organizations and how students can pursue options in their areas of expertise.

4. If you're passionate about Patch or if you love Keetons, stop by Friday afternoon when the Patch RV visits . Patch will help to celebate Keeton's win for Best Customer Service. We also want to celebrate al of the Patch Readers who participated by voting for their favorite businesses. Come between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and get a free hot dog and drink on Patch. Drop off non-perishable food items for the food bank and be entered into a dawing for a $25 gift card from Keeton's Office & Art Supply.

5. Tickets are on sale now for the Bradenton Blues Fest scheduled for December 1 at the new Riverwalk Park in downtown Bradenton. Tickets are $25 and include three issues of Blues Revue magazine and a sampler blues CD if purchased by June 30.
