Bradenton's 5 Things to Know Today: July 11

It's official: 75th Street extended is open, Manatee County Animal Services is looking for volunteers to come out for grooming Saturday and the county is hosting a public meeting on the Warner's Bayou Boat ramp tonight.

1. The road project connecting 75th Street West and El Conquistador Parkway is complete and the road is now open to the  public.

2. Dogs and cats at Manatee County Animal Services are in need of a little TLC and volunteers are gathering to provide just that. On Saturday at 10 a.m. the county is asking volunteers to come to Animal Services in Palmetto to bathe dogs that have been in the kennels. With more than 250 adoptable dogs and cats and only 7 staff members, animal services needs volunteers. County Commissioner Carol Whitmore put out a plea this week asking volunteers to bring dog shampoo and old towels to the Palmetto facility. Cat lovers are asked to bring cat combs and brushes to help groom the felines.

3. Brevard County visits the Bradenton Marauders today through Saturday for four 6:30 p.m. games. Gates will open at 5:30pm.

Additional details will be discussed during the Wednesday meeting. There are no plans for vendors at the site and there will not be 24-hour access to a proposed new restroom. Manatee County officials have postponed until at least Labor Day any repairs and improvements to Warner’s Bayou boat ramp.

5. The Bradenton Marauders are holding their annual baseball camp for children ages 6 through 14 Thursday through Saturday. The camp will be held at , 1701 27th Street East, and runs from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day. Marauders players and coaches will teach campers all aspects of the game of baseball.
