Bradenton's 5 Things to Know Today: July 9

1. Ninth Avenue between 14th Street West and 26th Street West closed today so that the Ninth Avenue bridge can replaced as part of the Wares Creek dredging project. The road, one of the alternate routes to Manatee Avenue, will remain closed for construction through November.

2. Manatee Community Action Agency and Neighborhood Home Solutions, federall approved non-profit Housing Counseling Agencies, are hosting a Free Foreclosure Prevention Clinic today from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the third floor meeting room of the Manatee Community Action Agency, 302 Manatee Avenue East, Suite 306.

3. The Fresh Market, a specialty grocer, will bring about 80-90 new jobs to Bradenton, almost all of which will be filled locally. The grocer will hold its Career Open House at the Courtyard by Marriott Bradenton Riverfront, 100 Riverfront Drive on Wednesday, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Career opportunities are for assistant grocery managers and specialists, bakers, meat cutters, and seafood specialists.

4. The county will hold its third public meeting on the Warner's Bayou Boat ramp on Wednesday at cafeteria, 6806 5th Ave NW. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. and is open to the public. A staff presentation covers a new plan based on public comments earlier this year.  A color rendering of the proposed changes can be found on the county website under Latest News. Additional details will be discussed during the Wednesday meeting. There are no plans for vendors at the site and there will not be 24-hour access to a proposed new restroom. Manatee County officials have postponed until at least Labor Day any repairs and improvements to Warner’s Bayou boat ramp.
