Bradenton's 5 Things to Know Today: May 21
If you care about the future of public libraries don't miss tonight's meeting at the Central Library, the Downtown Development Authority will discuss it long range planning for downtown and don't miss the City Council meeting Wednesday evening if you want

1. The Bradenton Downtown Development Authority will meet at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday for a regular board meeting followed by a long-range planning committee meeting. The meeting will take place in the conference room of the Office of the Downtown Development Authority on the first floor in , 101 Old Main St.
2. Bradenton Riverfront Partners II LLC, will go before the on Wednesday at 6 p.m. to ask for "a Major Amendment to the Promenade at Riverwalk Planned Development Project Site Plan" changes include modifications to the approved land uses and internal access located at 606 3rd Ave W.
3. There will be a Town Hall Meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m. at Auditorium. Share your ideas, concerns and questions about the future of the library system. The Long Range Plan committee will present the accomplishments that occurred as a result of the surveys, focus groups, and town hall meeting held last year. Along with the challenges of these economic times, they will discuss the many opportunities to meet the needs of its ever-changing community.

4. The Board of County Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday. On the agenda are an update on the Ware's Creek Project and appointments to the Tourism Development Council. Applicants for the tourism board include elected officials from Manatee County's cities, such as Wayne Poston and Jean Peelen.
5. The deadline to apply for the 2012-2013 Leadership Manatee program is Friday at 5:00 p.m. The program is designed to educate business and community leaders about all aspects of Manatee County and offer in-depth knowledge of our challenges and opportunities. Leadership Manatee is a program of the Manatee Chamber Foundation in partnership with the Kiwanis Club of Bradenton. Get the application online.
