Coast Guard Rescues Boat Right Before It Strikes Bridge

Coast Guard boat crew members aboard a 45-foot response boat from Station Cortez rescue a mariner just before he strikes the Cortez Road Bridge, in Bradenton Beach, during Tropical Storm Andrea.

The Cortez Bridge is one of two spans across Sarasota Bay from the mainland. The Cortez Bridge links State Road 684 with Bradenton Beach from Cortez.

The Coast Guard is remding boatrers to take precautions to ensure their safety due to strong gusty winds associated with the outer weather bands of tropical storms.
