Deputies Search for Man Who Shot at Woman

Deputies are searching for an armed man after a he shot at a woman who confronted him in her front yard, according to a Manatee County Sheriff's report.

Maryann Tejada heard gunshots outside of her house in the 3700 block of 11th Street Court East. Tejada who had recently arrived home went outside to investigate. Tejada said she saw her neighbor holding a gun. She told him to stop shooting or she would call the police.

Tejada grabbed the gun from her neighbor — reported to be Jovenal Romero. When she took his gun, he pulled another from the waistband of his pants and pointed the weapon at Tejada's feet. As she stepped up Romero shot the gun at her feet, according to to sheriff's report.

The round struck the ground nearTejada and she went inside her house and called 9-1-1. The suspect ran in an unknown direction. Deputies checked the area and collected evidence at the scene.
