Deputy Shoots at Suspect During Pursuit

The man who led deputies on a chase tried to run over two officers, according to a sheriff's report.

A Manatee County deputy shot at man who led deputies in a pursuit Sunday morning after nearly running one over and hitting another's vehicle, as the deputy was getting out of the truck.

Lawrence Isom, 23, was arrested Sunday morning on severa charges, including aggravated battery and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.

Deputies were called out to the 1200 block of 51st Ave. Dr. W. on a noise complaint just before 3 a.m. Sunday. The first deputy to arrive found a Ford Mustag parked in the road, playing extremely loud music.

The deputy was to talking to Isom when he took off in his car. The deputy had to jump out of the way to avoid being struck.

Another deputy spotted the Mustang shortly afterward and began a pursuit.  The pursuit ended several minutes later when Isom turned down a dead end street. Afte he turned around in the 2300 block of 12th St. Ct. W., Bradenton, he struck a K-9 vehicle and a patrol vehicle as a deputy was exiting.  The deputy shot at the suspect's vehicle, striking the Ford Mustang several times without hitting Isom. No one was injured. 

The Sheriff's Offics is reviewing the shooting.
