Woman, 71, Dead After 2-Car Crash In Manatee County
The Florida Highway Patrol said the crash happened shortly before 1:20 p.m. on Friday.

MANATEE COUNTY, FL — A 71-year-old Parrish woman died Friday after police said she ran a red light while driving and crashed into another car.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened shortly before 1:20 p.m. at the intersection of Rutland Road and SR 43.
Police said the woman was driving west on Rutland Road in the left turn lane when she ran a red light at the intersection with SR 43. As her car passed through the intersection, its driver's side was struck by another vehicle traveling north on SR 43.

The woman suffered serious injuries in the crash and was taken to South Shore Hospital in Sun City Center, where she later died.
The second driver — a 34-year-old man from Palmetto — was not injured.
