Family Of 71-Year-Old Crash Victim Seeks Public's Help
The family of 71-year-old Carl Wetzig is asking for the public's help in finding witnesses to a January crash that left him injured.

BRADENTON, FL -- The family of 71-year-old Carl Wetzig, who was seriously injured last month when he was struck by a car door as he was riding his bicycle, is asking for the public's help in finding witnesses to the Jan. 23 incident.
"As his family, we are pleading for any witnesses who have knowledge of the event to please contact our attorney, Dan Dannheisser, as soon as possible," said Carol and Casey Wetzig.

The crash happened around 3 p.m. along the northbound bicycle lane north of the Longboat Pass Bridge (SR 789) near Coquina Beach in Bradenton Beach.
"We are asking help from any persons who were present at or near the time this occurred," said the Wetzigs.

"We understand that as traffic was stopped on 789, someone opened a car door into the bike path causing Carl’s bike to crash," the Wetzigs explained. "He suffered severe head trauma and remains in intensive care. "
