Final Farewell Planned For Veteran Bradenton Police Officer

BRADENTON, FL — The public is invited to bid a final farewell to veteran Bradenton Police Sgt. James Kaull who died of complications from back surgery.

A 17-year veteran of the police force, Kaull died at Manatee Memorial Hospital last Saturday. His funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Kingdom Life Church in Bradenton.

“It goes without saying that Sgt. Kaull’s untimely death is a great loss to our BPD family," Bradenton Police Chief Melanie Bevan said. "We are asking everyone to please keep Sgt. Kaull’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this very difficult time.”

Bradenton city officials said attendance at the funeral will be limited to accommodate social distancing guidelines.

Kaull served in a number of roles during his time on the force, most recently being assigned to the
property and evidence departments.

"Sgt. Kaull’s death was sudden and unexpected due to complications following back surgery for an off-duty injury he suffered years ago," Bradenton police said. "Members of the department were with Sgt. Kaull’s family at the hospital on Saturday and are offering them continued support."

The Kingdom Life Church is located at 3700 26th St W in Bradenton.
