First Bank Continues Collective Efforts For Shoeman Water Project
Shoe drop off site at Arnold Dierbergs helps non-profit fund new well in Dominican Republic
For the past three years, First Bank’s Arnold Dierbergs location (858 Arnold Commons Dr) has served as a collection site for the Shoeman Water Project – a non-profit that generates revenue to fund water projects in developing countries by collecting new and gently used shoes.
Recently, those collection efforts paid off as Shoeman announced the completion of a new well in the Dominican Republic.
“That was really great to hear and we want to thank everyone for their ongoing, collective efforts in support of the Shoeman Water Project,” said Cory Mahoney, Branch Manager in Arnold, whose branch is one of several Jefferson County businesses that serve as collection sites. “The water project in the Dominican Republic and others like it across the world really has an impact on so many lives.”

In addition to serving as a vital revenue source for operations and water projects, Shoeman’s shoe collection efforts improve the planet by keeping wearable, usable shoes out of local landfills and directing them to a secondary market for reuse locally and globally.
Local collection sites for the entire St. Louis region can be found on the location tab of the Shoeman Water Project website (shoemanwater.org). Shoes can also be dropped off at the Shoeman Water Project warehouse at 3715 Pennridge Dr., Bridgeton, Mo., 63044. The Shoeman Water Project also accepts monetary donations.
