Florida Cononavirus Update: 10,268 Cases, 170 Deaths

Here is the latest total of coronavirus cases for each of Florida's 67 counties as of Friday night.

TALLAHASSEE, FL — The number of coronavirus cases in Florida climbed to 10,268 Friday night as the number of deaths rose from 144 to 170.

Florida's total included 1,334 hospitalizations and a positive test rate for the virus of 10.7 percent based on 95,835 tests throughout the state.

Friday was the first full day since Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis's order directing Floridians to remain at home took effect.

The executive order directs Floridians to limit movements and personal interactions outside the home to only those necessary to obtain or provide "essential services" or conduct "essential activities." See FL Governor Restricts Movements Of Residents: Coronavirus

With 3,364 cases, Miami-Dade County has the most confirmed cases of any of Florida's 67 counties. Broward County, which has a much smaller population than Miami-Dade, has 1,598 cases. Palm Beach County, which is just north of Broward County, has 858 cases.

Hillsborough County, which includes Tampa, has 463 cases. Orange County, which includes Orlando, has 602 cases.

Charlotte County reported its first death from the illness on Friday while Franklin County reported its first case of the virus.

Monroe County, which includes Key West, reported its first death on Friday as did Putnam County.

Only seven counties were left without any confirmed cases as of Friday, down from 15 on Sunday.
