Florida Coronavirus Deaths Rise Only Slightly
Florida coronavirus deaths rose only slightly Tuesday, marking the lowest increase since Mother's Day.
TALLAHASSEE, FL — Florida coronavirus deaths rose only slightly Tuesday, marking the lowest increase since Mother's Day.
Six Florida counties reported a total of seven new deaths on Tuesday over the previous 24-hour period compared to 15 new deaths Monday, four new deaths Sunday, 43 new deaths Saturday, 59 Friday, 51 on Thursday, 43 Wednesday, 55 Tuesday and 24 deaths last Monday.
The death total rose by six on Mother's Day but all of those deaths were reported in two counties.

Health officials also said the overall number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Florida rose to 52,170 Tuesday, an increase of 424 cases over the previous 24-hour period.

Florida's death toll rose to 2,259 Tuesday,up from 2,252 deaths involving Florida residents a day earlier.
For the first time in weeks, Miami-Dade County did not report a single death in the previous 24 hours. Broward County reported two new deaths. Palm Beach County did not report any deaths.
Duval County, which includes Jacksonville, reported one new death. Pasco County, which includes Wesley Chapel, reported one new death. Polk County, which includes Lakeland, reported one new death. Walton County, which borders Alabama, reported one new death as did nearby Washington County.
A total of 29,396 cases — or some 56 percent of Florida's total confirmed cases — were in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties as those three counties continued to reopen. Broward County beaches opened on Tuesday and Miami-Dade County beaches are expected to reopen Monday. Palm Beach County beaches reopened on May 18.
Miami-Dade reported 17,168 confirmed cases of the virus as of Tuesday. Nearby Broward County, which includes Fort Lauderdale, reported 6,799 cases. Palm Beach County, which includes West Palm Beach, reported 5,429 cases.
Florida had a 5.6 percent positive test rate for the virus based on a total of 924,920 tests that had been administered as of Tuesday. The number of hospitalizations in Florida increased to 9,482 from 9,424 a day earlier.
Hillsborough County, which includes Tampa, reported 1,969 cases as of Tuesday. Orange County, which includes Orlando, reported 1,849 cases.
