Florida Has 2 Of 5 Best Places To Get Married: Study

If you're shopping around for a wedding destination you may not need to travel any farther than Florida, according to a new study.

MIAMI, FL — If you're shopping around for a wedding destination you may not need to travel any farther than Florida, according to a new study released Wednesday by personal finance website WalletHub. The Sunshine State had two of the top five best places to tie the knot in the United States.

Orlando topped the list while Miami came in at number five based on 27 key factors relating to cost, convenience and enjoyment.

"The data set ranges from average wedding cost to venues and event spaces per capita to weather," the website penned, noting that weddings cost an average of $33,000 in what has become an $81 billion industry.

"To help couples find the most wedding-friendly destinations, WalletHub compared more than 180 of the biggest U.S. cities across 27 key indicators of cost effectiveness, convenience and enjoyment," the website said.

The factors included average wedding cost, venues and event spaces per capita and weather.

Miami, for example, finished first in the number of bridal shops per person, sixth for venues and event spaces, ninth for hotels, sixth for musicians and DJs per person, 17th for wedding chapels and churches, 90th for wedding cost and third for videographers and photographers per person.

With respect to other Florida cities, Tampa ranked 11th while Fort Lauderdale came in at 27th. St. Petersburg came in 55th. Jacksonville finished 60th. Cape Coral finished 138th, Pembroke Pines ranked 150th and Port St. Lucie finished 151st.

Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Atlanta round out the top five best places for a wedding, while the worst places to get married included Nashua, New Hampshire; Worcester, Massachusetts; South Burlington, Vermont; Warwick, Rhode Island; Bridgeport, Connecticut and Pearl City, Hawaii, according to WalletHub.
