Grammy-Nominated Singer Songwriter to Visit Southeast High

Any public school music education program would love to get an extra $10,000 to help pay for the things necessary to keep a music program vibrant, but to have a grammy winning singer-songwriter deliver that check is certain to add an extra charge of excitement.

Southeast High School gets to find out exactly what that's like on Monday when Sara Bareilles delivers $10,000 for the school's music programs courtesy of a 2000 Southeast High School graduate.

Jillian Cupps, an Orlando resident and a winner of 8^th Continent Soymilk’s “Nice Job, Mom: We Rock” contest, designed to showcase moms who emphasize health and harmony in their homes, chose to donate the $10,000 to Southeast High School. The contest invited mothers across the country to submit the tips and tricks that make them rock star moms. Representatives from 8th Continent Soymilk chose the finalists and the public voted on the entries online.Cupps suggested that moms who wanted to look good but be practical trade dresses for events with friends.

Stemrick Heritage Foods chose to support music programs with the “Nice Job, Mom: We Rock”  becaue the programs  benefit more than just musically-inclined students – studies show correlations between music training and reading, sequence learning and the manipulation of information in both long-term and working memory.

For her finish Cupps was got VIP treatment at Bareilles’ concert and a $10,000 donation in her name to the music education program at a school of her choice.  Bareilles served as the face of the promotion. It is a precursor to its “Lookin’ Good, Feelin’ Good” sweepstakes, a program for which entries are presently being submitted at www.8thcontinent.com. The “Lookin’ Good, Feelin’ Good” campaign will culminate with a total donation of $400,000 towards physical education programs across 80 schools nationwide.
