Here’s Why Kyra Was Shouted Out As A FL Star Student
We all know students who excel in academic, fine arts or volunteer service. Here's one local resident who is having an impact in Bradenton.

BRADENTON, FL — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Wendy Houston who nominated her daughter, Kyra. Kyra, a Bradenton resident, is in the 11th grade at Manatee High School while dual-enrolled at the State College of Florida.

How do you know the star local student?
My daughter
Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Kyra is doing college classes full-time as a high school student. She also has a passion for dance and dances in two separate groups of classes where a student normally only dances in one. But she loves it so much she asked to join two. She also volunteers her time to assist with teaching the younger classes, in addition to her regular dance classes. She also holds a part-time job and will be a camp counselor during the summer. She does this all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA in college.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
Kyra gives 120 (percent) in everything she does. She is the hardest worker anyone has ever seen.
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Kyra!
