Highway Shootout In Manatee County Prompts Investigation

According to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, bullets flew from several moving vehicles traveling along 14th Street West.

MANATEE COUNTY, FL — A shootout among several moving vehicles in Manatee County has prompted an investigation by the sheriff's office.

According to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, around 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, deputies received calls regarding a vehicle traveling northbound on 14th Street West shooting at another moving vehicle.

When deputies arrived, the vehicles had fled the area and multiple vehicle descriptions were provided to include a black Lexus, green Dodge Ram, and silver sedan as the vehicles that were possibly involved.

At this time, the sheriff's office said it appears at least two vehicles were involved in the gunfire exchange.

Deputies said a pickup truck also traveling northbound on 14th Street West was struck with a single round. No one was injured or struck by the projectile.

The investigation remains ongoing, the sheriff's office said.
