I-75 Open After Beer Truck Crashes Into Manatee River

The truck driver lost control and plunged over the J.D. Young Bridge early Thursday morning near the Ellenton Premium Outlets.

All lanes of Interstate 75 are open and a truck driver is in stable condition after a beer truck crashed into the concrete retaining wall of a bridge and landed in the Manatee River, authorities said Thursday morning.

The tractor trailer was headed north on I-75 at the J.D. Young Bridge, which crosses the river near the Ellenton Premium Outlets, around 4:30 a.m. when the driver lost control, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.

The driver, 40-year-old Kevin Dennison, of Largo, was standing on top of the cab as the vehicle was partially submerged in the water when emergency personnel arrived, FOX 13 Tampa Bay reports

Dennison was taken to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton with serious injuries, according to the FHP.

The truck, which bears the logo of German brewer Hofbrauhaus Munchen, according to FOX 13, was apparently empty.
