Patch: What attracted you to politics, and how did you get started?

Bill Sanders: After retirement I became interested in local politics because I witnessed to fast of growth, overbuilding and not listening to the citizens concerns and needs.

Patch: Tell us a little bit about yourself and your campaign?

Bill Sanders: I am a graduate of Indiana University in Business Administration with majors in Finance and Marketing. I was born and raised in a small town on a farm in Southern Indiana.

Patch: How long have you lived in Bradenton?

Bill Sanders: I first moved here in 2000 after the tragic death of my wife. I purchased a home in 2011 on the Manatee River, however, it was destroyed in the last 2 hurricanes.


Patch: Tell us about your career and service in Bradenton.

Bill Sanders: I was a city councilman from 2019 to 2023. I was vice Chairman of our Bradenton CRA and active in numerous committees with the Florida League of Cities.


Patch: What are some ways you give back to the community?

Bill Sanders: I volunteer through Groups like the Kiawans, lions club and my Church. I am on numerous committees for the homeless and affordable housing efforts.


Patch: If you were to be elected, what would some of your top priorities/policies/changes be?

Bill Sanders: First is fix the Cities infrastructure to prevent the sewage from entering the Manatee River. Second I will return curbside recycling. And I will resolve the whistle blower lawsuit by BPD on the Mayors and Chief of Police office.


Patch: What distinguishes you from other candidates?

Bill Sanders: I have a much stronger education and over 40 years as a businessman in large Corporations with thousands of employees . I review each department for improvements as a best practice and make changes.


Patch: What’s the biggest challenge or most difficult moment you’ve faced during this election?

Bill Sanders: People accusing you of things that simply are not true. Many times you hear it and not able to respond to each person who may read a false article or rumor.


Patch: What’s the most satisfying part about running in this election?

Bill Sanders: To see your projects to help the citizens come together for their enjoyment and quality of life. Building of parks and bike trails and witnessing the enjoyment the public sees. Make our city better.
