Man Killed in Sunday Night Shooting

Deputies are investigating links to a stolen vehicle and a report of shots fired.

A 22-year-old man died Sunday night from a gunshot that went throough his arm and traveled through his torso.

The man was one of two dropped off with gun shot wounds at Manatee Memorial Hospital at 10 p.m. Sunday, according to a Manatee County Sheriff's report.

Ernest T. Curry, 22, who was shot once in the right arm and the bullet passed through his torso, was pronounced dead at 10:51 p.m, according to the report. Haywood Edouard, 22, was also dropped off at the hospital with a gun shot wound in his shoulder.

Detectives believe the shooting happened in the 600 block of 26th Avenue East where residents reported hearing shots fired. A few minutes earlier deputies received a report of a stolen gold Buick at 2915 7th Street East.

They later located the gold Buick parked in the 1000 block of 33rd Avenue East. Deputies also located a blue Ford Taurus a few houses away. Both vehicles contain evidence connected with the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing. Detectives are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 866-634-TIPS.
