BRADENTON, FL — A man faces charges in a Thursday night shooting at a Bradenton mobile home park that left a woman injured, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Kevin Armstrong was charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a firearm and battery.

Armstrong confronted a 33-year-old woman he’d been in a relationship with just after 8 p.m. as she arrived on a golf cart at a residence at Sunny Shores Mobile Home Park to retrieve her personal items, the sheriff’s office said.

During the argument, he grabbed a shotgun and fired at the victim as she tried to leave the area with two men who came to the home with her. As he continued shooting at the woman, one of the other men grabbed a handgun from their parked golf cart and shot several times in Armstrong’s direction.

The woman was shot in the chest during this exchange of gunfire. The victims drove away from the area in the golf cart, bringing the injured woman to the intersection of 119th Street W. and 45th Ave. W. in Cortez.

Deputies who arrived at the shooting scene confronted Armstrong, who was hiding inside the home. He eventually gave himself up and was taken into custody, the sheriff's office said.

Other deputies met with the victims at 45th Avenue. The woman was brought to Blake Hospital, where she was in stable condition Friday morning.

Detectives learned that earlier in the evening, before the shooting, Armstrong slapped the woman in the face.

He was booked into Manatee County Jail.
