FL Man In Wheelchair Dies After Being Hit By Truck
A Pinellas Park man in a wheelchair was hit and killed by a truck while crossing the street in Manatee County, FL Highway Patrol said.
MANATEE COUNTY, FL — A 64-year-old man died after being hit by a truck Saturday night in Manatee County, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.
The Pinellas Park man was traveling north to south in the crosswalk at Pearl Avenue, east of U.S. 41, then the truck turned north on U.S. 41 and hit the wheelchair.
After the man fell out of the wheelchair from the impact, the truck drove over him in the crosswalk, FHP said.

The truck stopped in the northbound outside lane of U.S. 41 after the crash.

The driver, a 29-year-old Palmetto man, and his passenger, a 26-year-old Bradenton woman, were uninjured.
The Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating.
