Manatee Sheriffs Department Holds "Coffee with a Cop" Events

"Coffee with a Cop" events will be held in Bradenton and Lakewood Ranch October 7.

BRADENTON, FL - Friday, October 7th, is National Coffee with a Cop Day. The Sheriff’s Office would like to invite you to stop by any of the 3 locations and enjoy a cup of coffee and conversation with a Cop!

It’s your chance to visit with law enforcement officers at various locations around Manatee County, ask questions and drink a cup or two of coffee as part of National Coffee with a Cop Day. The goal of the event is to improve trust and build relationships one cup of coffee at a time.

National Coffee with a Cop Day was launched in 2011 in Hawthorne, CA, by the Hawthorne Police Department as a means of improving communication with the public. Since then, Coffee with a Cop events have been hosted in all 50 states, and has become one of the most successful community oriented policing programs across the country.

The casual atmosphere is designed to encourage people to sit down with officers, ask questions and share what’s on their minds. The event will be held Friday morning from 8:30 to 10:30 at the following locations:

· Mixon’s Groveside Café at Mixon’s Fruit Farms, 2525 27th Street E., Bradenton

· Mocha Joe’s Café, 3633 Cortez Road W., Bradenton

· Popi’s Place on the Ranch, 5820 Ranch Lake Blvd., Lakewood Ranch

Command staff from the Sheriff's Office will be at the designated locations, and deputies will be encouraged to stop by as they can between calls for service.
