Manatee County's first Save-A-Life adoption event turned out to be a big success with 28 dogs and cats adopted from the downtown and Palmetto shelters. The event was designed as part of Manatee County's no kill effort. Adoptions in July had been fairly slow until the weekend event. Saturday's event included free food, information about the county's no kill efforts and of course, lots of adoptable animals, including puppies and kittens. The Animal Network, Humane Society and the Zirkelbach Grill Team all helped make the event successful.
