Motorcyclist Killed In Manatee County Crash: FL Highway Patrol

A Bradenton man died after being thrown from his motorcycle in a Cortez Road crash Saturday afternoon, Florida Highway Patrol said.

MANATEE COUNTY, FL — A motorcyclist was killed in a Saturday afternoon crash in Manatee County, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

The 22-year-old Bradenton man was speeding on his motorcycle while heading east and approaching a median pass-through for 8400 Cortez Road W. just before 5 p.m., FHP said.

At the same time, an SUV driven by a 25-year-old Bradenton woman was traveling west on Cortez Road West in the left turn lane.

The SUV entered the eastbound Cortez Road West travel lanes in front of the approaching motorcyclist, according to FHP.

The two vehicles collided and the Bradenton man was thrown from his motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
