Pedestrian Killed Crossing Cortez Road
The 55-year-old Bradenton man walked in front of a pick-up towing a trailer.
A 55-year-old Bradenton man was killed this morning while crossing Cortez Road in traffic, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
Daniel Dietz Elliott died just after 9:30 a.m. after he was struck by a pick-up truck towing a trailer. David R. Smith was driving his Toyota Tundra pick-up west on Cortez Road in the left lane when Elliott ran across the road and into the path of Smith's truck, according to the FHP report.
Smith swerved to avoid Elliot but the right fender of his trailer struck Elliott who was pronounced dead at the scene.
