Rick Scott to Help Celebrate Port Manatee Berth
Construction of Berth 12 is complete and will allow the port to be able to handle large cargo ships coming through the Panama Canal.

Gov. Rick Scott and some federal officials are expected to help celebrate Port Manatee's Berth 12 completion.
Port Executive Director Carlos Buqueras told County Commissioners today that the Governor is expected to take place in the festivities scheduled for Aug. 17 at 2 p.m. which include a port tour and roundtable discussion.
The festivities are designed as a ribbon cutting ceremony for Berth 12 which has been lengthened to 1,584 feet from 1,000 feet. Berth construction is designed to allow Port Manatee to handle large cargo ships coming through the Panama Canal.
