Salvation Army Plans Retail-Housing Complex
The three-story building would include a store and apartments for families in need of transitional housing.

The Salvation Army has unveiled plans for a $7.4 million three-story complex on 14th Street West that will include a store, restaurants and transitional living apartments for families.
The Bradenton Herald is reporting that residents of the facility would get skills training and pay rent on a sliding fee scale. They may live for months or years at the complex. The mixed-use facility is an unusual effort by the Salvation Army.
Maj. Dwayne Durham presented the plans to the community on Thursday, May 16. The forum was held under a tent in a vacant lot next to the Salvation Army property, at 1204 14th St W. No one opposed the plan.
