Shot Fired at Johnson Middle School in Bradenton, Deputies Say
No one was injured, but the school and another one nearby were briefly placed on lockdown Friday, officials said.

A teenager has been arrested and another person is being sought by authorities following a shooting incident that occurred Friday afternoon at Johnson Middle School in Bradenton.

Wakeland Elementary School was also briefly placed on lockdown Friday, along with Johnson Middle School, the Sarasota Herald-Tribune reports.
A Manatee County School District spokesperson told the newspaper the schools were briefly put on lockdown and dismissal was delayed as the area was searched.

Deputies say someone fired a gun in the air Friday afternoon on the campus of Johnson Middle School in Bradenton, causing the school to go on lockdown.
The incident happened around 3:05 p.m., according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, when witnesses said they saw two people on school grounds, one of whom fired a gun into the air.
The two fled the scene, one on bicycle and one on foot, deputies said. The area was being searched, and the school was placed on lockdown, a sheriff's office spokesperson said.
The suspects are described as men, possibly teenagers, one wearing all black and one all white.
Johnson Middle School is located at 2121 26th Ave. E.
