Son Charged With Manslaughter In Accidental Shooting Death Of His Elderly Father In FL
A 35-year-old man was arrested in connection with the accidental fatal shooting of his elderly father in Bradenton, MCSO said.
BRADENTON, FL — A 35-year-old man was arrested Wednesday and charged with manslaughter in the accidental shooting death of his elderly father, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Deputies responded to a report of a shooting inside a home in the 12300 block of Baypointe Terrace in Bradenton just before noon.
When they arrived, they found Ian Douglas rendering aid to his father, 76-year-old Andew Douglas, who had been shot once in the neck, police said.

Emergency medical personnel attempted life-saving measures on the man, who couldn’t be revived and was pronounced dead at 12:20 p.m.

Ian told deputies that he was showing his father a handgun when it accidentally went off.
He was charged with manslaughter by culpable negligence and booked into the Manatee County Jail.
