A school resource deputy began investigating Fell on March 3 when a male student at Carlos E. Haile Middle School reported that she had been communicating with him through Snapchat since December, the sheriff’s office said.

The boy also told investigators that the teacher sent him an explicit photo via the app on Jan. 2.

The school’s administration was informed of the allegations, and detectives from the MCSO Crimes Against Children Unit started an investigation.

Over the several weeks, detectives confirmed that the student had communicated with the teacher multiple times on social media, beginning in December.

After obtaining a search warrant allowing access to data from phones and social media accounts, detectives found “evidence that the communications led to lewd conduct involving the victim,” the sheriff’s office said.

Investigators confirmed that the explicit photo of a nude breast belonged to Fell, the agency said.

Additional information sent by Snapchat on May 12 strengthened the case and a warrant for her arrest was issued Monday.
