Teen Driver Arrested After Leaving Scene Of Fatal Crash: FL Troopers
An 18-year-old Bradenton man was arrested after leaving and returning to the scene of a fatal Manatee County crash, FL Highway Patrol said.
MANATEE COUNTY, FL — An 18-year-old Bradenton man faces charges after leaving the scene of a fatal Manatee County crash Wednesday night before returning to it, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.
He was driving an SUV north on U.S. 41 in the middle lane, approaching 63rd Avenue W., around 10:30 p.m.
At the same time, a 62-year-old California man walking east on the road with his bicycle entered the northbound travel lanes, FHP said.

The driver hit the man, who was later pronounced dead at the scene.
He initially stopped to check on the pedestrian before leaving, FHP said. He returned sometime later and was arrested for leaving a crash scene.

Neither the driver nor his passenger, a 17-year-old Bradenton boy, were injured in the crash.
