Three Shooting Victims Drive Themselves to Hospital

The three men were shot near DeSoto Square Mall and then drive themselves to Manatee Memorial

A man with several outstanding arrest warrants has been caught and arrested on charges of attempted murder following a drive-by shooting near DeSoto Square Mall that left three men injured early Sunday morning.

The three men ages 19, 20 and 21 were in a car travelling north on First Street passing Desoto Square mall at 3:30 a.m. when another vehicle came up from behind.  As they turned east onto 301 Boulevard shots were filed at their car, hitting all three men. Tarvin Martiin, 24, has been charged with attempted murder  and fleeing to elude in the Sunday morning shooting.

He had three existing warrants on charges of aggravated assault  with a firearm from another unrelated shooting that happened before the Sunday shooting.

Sunday's three victims — Johnny Yarn  20,  Davell Kendricks 19 and  Rashard Waiters, 21 — were shot in various locations on their bodies. The victims drove themselves to Manatee Memorial Hospital and all three are expected to survive.

Once they arrived at the hospital Bradenton police officers called the sheriff's office to investigate at the scene of the shooting.

Two men, both named Tarvin Martin, were arrested on separate charges.

Detectives quickly located Martin's vehicle in the area of the 1700 block of 26th Avenue East. When deputies tried to stop the vehicle the driver sped off. The car stopped about five blocks later and both men ran got out and ran.

Tarvin Martin, 20,was arrested on charges stemming from fleeing the vehicle. He has been charged with possession of a firearm and obstruction.

Detectives continue to investigate. The Manatee County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information about the case or the suspects to contact the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office at 941-747-3011 ext 2493 or Crime Stoppers at 866-634-TIPS.
