Toddler Dies After Being Struck By Car

A toddler was killed Tuesday morning when he wandered into the path of an oncoming car, according to the Bradenton Police Department.

BRADENTON, FL -- A toddler was killed Tuesday morning when he wandered away from his family and fell into the path of an oncoming car, according to the Bradenton Police Department. The incident occurred around 7:50 a.m. at the Citrus Meadows Apartment Complex, 1500 21st St E.

"Upon arrival, officers found that 23-month-old Amir Stubbs of Bradenton had been hit by a vehicle driving through the parking lot," Bradenton police explained. "Officers began life-saving measures until EMS arrived."

The child was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital where he died.

"The investigation has revealed that Amir was waiting by the family car with his siblings when he walked away from the family between cars and fell into the path of a car driven by Lisa M. Walker of Bradenton," police said.

"Initial indications are that speed and driver impairment are not factors in this crash," Bradenton police added. "This investigation is ongoing."
