Wanted Man Leads Deputies on 90 mph Chase Through Bradenton

Authorities used "pursuit termination devices" to deflate all four tires on Marcus E. Miller's car early Tuesday morning.

A wanted Bradenton man who authorities say eluded capture several times this week was arrested following a 90 mph chase early Tuesday morning.

Marcus E. Miller, 38, had been wanted for a felony warrant for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer as well as driving while license suspended/revoked, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

A deputy saw Miller shortly before 4 a.m. Tuesday at 2500 1st St. E. in the same vehicle that authorities say he used to flee from them multiple times in the past week.

When the deputy initiated a traffic stop Miller fled again, the sheriff's office reports. After a 16-minute pursuit on U.S. 301, with speeds reaching 90 mph, authorities used "pursuit termination devices," at 2600 15th St. E. and at 2000 Cortez Rd. W., to deflate all four of Miller's tires.

But the chase didn't end there.

Officials say Miller drove about another mile on four rims before he crashed into a light pole at the intersection of Cortez and First Street, then into a nearby retention pond.

Miller was taken into custody without further incident. He is charged with pursuit with crash; arrest warrant, battery on a law enforcement officer; aggravated fleeing to elude; felony driving while license suspended or revoked; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
