Woman Arrested in Connection with Her Baby's Death

Detectives have arrested a 22-year-old woman on charges of aggravated manslaughter of a child after they say she failed to protect her 11-month old baby from an abusive boyfriend, according to a Manatee County Sheriff's report.

The baby, Payton Nash Moistner, died Sept. 14, 2010 from a head injury. Investigators discovered that the baby had suffered at least five incidents of abuse over nearly two weeks before her death, according to a sheriff's report.

Nash's boyfriend, John Morico, 21, is currently serving 10 years in prison for manslaughter for the baby's death. Detectives charged Nash Tuesday because they said she failed to protect her daughter from the ongoing abuse.
