Woman Hit and Killed By Tanker Truck on I-75

The 36-year-old spun out on the Interstate and was stuck in a ditch. She was killed when she got out of her car and headed to the side of the road.

A 36-year-old Tampa woman was killed this morning after she was hit by a tanker truck shortly after getting out of her car which was stuck in a ditch along Interstate-75, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

Rebecca J. Brown was traveling south on I-75 and approaching the University Parkway area when her 2007 BMW apparently spun off the roadway onto the west shoulder and was stuck in a ditch, according to the report. Brown got out of the car and headed to the shoulder of the interstate. 

Curt M. Lux, 60, of Port Richey, was driving his tanker south along I-75 when the the right front hit Brown, who was standling near the edge of the lane, throwing her southwest onto the grassy shoulder of the road.

Brown's family was notified about her death this morning.
