Wrong-Way DUI Driver In FL Seriously Injured 2 In 4-Vehicle Crash
A wrong-way driver accused of DUI had a blood alcohol content nearly twice the legal limit in a 4-vehicle crash on I-75, FL troopers said.
MANATEE COUNTY, FL — A wrong-way driver was accused of driving under the influence in a Thursday morning crash on Interstate 75 in Manatee County, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.
The crash happened at mile marker 228, near the Interstate 275 exit, around 4 a.m.
Luis Alfredo Manzoni Diez, 45, of Palm Beach was heading south in the northbound lanes of I-75 when he hit a pick-up truck traveling north head-on, FHP said.

A car heading north hit debris from the crash, entered the median and hit the cable barrier. A pick-up truck also collided with the debris and sustained minor damage.
Manzoni Diez had a blood alcohol content of .158 — nearly twice the legal limit, FHP said. He was arrested for DUI and booked into the Manatee County Jail.

The driver of the pickup truck hit head on, a 58-year-old Port Charlotte woman, and her passenger, a Port Charlotte woman whose age wasn’t shared, were seriously injured.
The DUI driver and the car’s driver, a 39-year-old Port Charlotte man, suffered minor injuries in the crash.
The second pick-up truck’s driver, a 60-year-old Indiana man, was uninjured.
