Fatal Clearwater Stabbing: Girlfriend Faces Manslaughter Charges

A 58-year-old man was found stabbed to death in a Clearwater home Saturday morning.

CLEARWATER, FL — The Clearwater Police Department is investigating the Saturday morning death of a 58-year-old man.

According to the agency, officers were called to a home in the 1700 block of North Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue around 8 a.m. Dec. 10 about a stabbing. When they arrived, they found the man dead, police wrote in an email to media.

The man's girlfriend, Elsie Vernell Johnson, 51, was charged with manslaughter Saturday afternoon, the police department reported.

"The stabbing took place during a domestic dispute and the suspect did not call 911 or seek medical attention for him after the incident," the agency wrote.

The man's name is not being released until his next of kin is notified.

Johnson was expected to be booked into the Pinellas County Jail later on Saturday.
