Sand Key Dredge Project Underway

The $31.5 million beach nourishment project includes adding sand along the coast from Sand Key to North Redington Beach.

A clogged pipe and issues with the electric were not enough to slow down the steady pumping of sand along Sand Key beach.

While work started a little later than scheduled, equipment and crews are in place for the $31.5 million project to fill 1.25 million cubic yards of sand from Sand Key to North Redington Beach.

The sand is being pumped from the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico 12 miles west of Sand Key. Work is expected to be complete by October.
