Winter "Bobbletail" Giveaway Coming to Bright House Field

The Threshers will give away Winter the Dolphin "bobbletails" to the first 2,000 fans at the June 1 game.

Millions know Winter's story of perseverance and success after being rescued and rehabilitated when her tail was cut by a crab trap.

Now, thousands can get a "bobbletail" honoring the marine mammal when the Threshers play the Palm Beach Cardinals June 1 at . A portion of ticket sales benefit the aquarium and its rescue and rehabilitation programs.

“Their help in fundraising is a great support to us – and a fun community outreach opportunity as well," said Linda Kay O’Reilly, vice president of development for the , in a press release.

Winter was brought to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium to begin a recovery and rehabilitation program after her rescue off Florida's east coast in 2005. She was fitted with a prosthetic tail and her story soon became a box office hit as well. Harry Connick Jr., Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd starred in Dolphin Tale, based on Winter's life.
