Clearwater Shooting Victim's Identity Released

CLEARWATER, FL — The Clearwater Police Department is investigating the death of a woman found inside a home in the Oakbrook Apartments early Friday morning.

According to the agency, officers received a call about shots fired in the area shortly after 3:30 a.m. Dec. 9. When they arrived on the scene, they found the adult female dead inside an apartment in the 2200 block of Nursery Road.

Police say the woman, Saniye Salahutdi, 22, had been shot to death. Salahutdi lived at the apartment with her mother, the agency noted in an email to media.

The case remains under investigation, but detectives say the shooting is not believed to be random.

No further information is being released at this time.
