21-Year-Old Miami-Dade Woman Killed By Uncle: Cops

An early morning shooting claimed the life of a 21-year-old woman in southwest Miami-Dade.

MIAMI, FL — The uncle of a 21-year-old Miami-Dade woman who secretly had a two-year sexual relationship with his niece, was charged with the woman's murder on Friday, according to Miami-Dade police.

Forty-four-year-old Stephen Fraser Myers of Homestead was charged with second-degree murder after allegedly opening fire on Winnie Mendoza outside her home in the 15000 block of SW 307 Street, Miami-Dade police said..

"Investigators received further information that led them to an individual that may be involved or have information regarding the shooting and a firearm was also recovered," said Detective Alvaro Zabaleta of the Miami-Dade Police Department.

Police said the shooting occurred around 8:14 a.m. when Myers followed Mendoza to her home.

"As the victim exited her car, the defendant exited his truck with a firearm," arrest documents explained. "The defendant demanded to know who the victim had been with all night and an argument ensued."

Arrest documents said Myers shot the woman multiple times. He later provided a video confession, according to the documents.

"The defendant then fled the scene, drove home to his wife and told her that he had shot her niece," court documents said.

Myers left his home and was picked up a short time later by police, court documents said.

Mendoza was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
